Who We Are
The voice of the tribe, the keepers of the sacred arts, the weavers of story and song
The Order of the Silver Rose
The Order of the Silver Rose is a Celtic Bardic Guild dedicated to the preservation, practice, and celebration of the Bardic arts within the living Irish Druidic tradition. We are a community of storytellers, musicians, poets, singers, and seekers bound together by a shared love of the sacred creative arts and the spiritual heritage of Ireland.
The silver rose is our symbol — silver for the moon and for the gift of sight, the rose for beauty that blooms even in thorned places, for the courage of creation, and for the love that underlies all true art.
Ours is a guild in the truest old sense: a fellowship of practitioners who learn from one another, who uphold standards of craft and devotion, and who stand as living links in the unbroken chain of bardic tradition.
The Bard in the Irish Druidic Order
Understanding the sacred role that Bards have held since the earliest days of Celtic civilization
In the ancient tripartite structure of the Druidic order, three paths were recognized: the Ovate, the seer and healer who walked between worlds; the Druid, the philosopher and ritualist who tended sacred law and ceremony; and the Bard — the keeper of memory, the singer of truth, and the voice of the people.
"The bards are the memory of the tribe, and to be forgotten in their songs is to cease to exist."
The Bard was no mere entertainer. In the courts of Irish kings and the circles of Druidic gatherings, the Bard held enormous power and prestige. Their satire could shame the unworthy; their praise could elevate the noble. They memorized the genealogies of noble families, the histories of kingdoms, the stories of gods and heroes — tens of thousands of lines of verse held in the living mind, never written down, passed mouth to ear across the generations.
The training of a Bard in old Ireland was said to take twelve years — learning poetic metres, mythology, history, music, and the complex spiritual art of imbas forosnai, the poetic illumination that comes from the sacred inspiration of the divine. This was not merely art — it was magic.
Today, the Order of the Silver Rose honours this path in a living way — not as a museum piece but as a genuine, evolving spiritual and artistic practice rooted in authentic Irish Druidic tradition. We study the old forms, we learn the mythologies, we craft new work in the spirit of the ancient art, and we gather to share it with those who have ears to hear.
Our Values & Principles
Faithfulness to Tradition
We take the Irish Druidic heritage seriously — studying its history, mythology, and spiritual framework with honesty and scholarship, while allowing the tradition to breathe and grow.
Excellence in Craft
We believe the Bardic arts deserve dedicated practice and ongoing refinement. A Bard commits to their craft not for applause but as a form of devotion — to the art, to the community, and to the divine.
Community & Kinship
We are a guild — a fellowship. We support one another, celebrate each other's growth, and hold space for those who are still finding their voice. No Bard walks the path alone.
Reverence for the Natural World
As followers of an earth-centred tradition, we honour the land, the waters, the sacred cycles of sun and moon, and the spirits of the world around us. This reverence is woven into all we do.
Truth & Integrity
The Bard's greatest power was their unwavering commitment to truth. We speak honestly, honour our word, and use our creative gifts to illuminate rather than obscure.
Beauty as Sacred Practice
We believe that beauty — in music, in language, in ceremony, in life — is not a luxury but a spiritual necessity. The creation of beauty is itself a holy act.
The Irish Druidic Religious Tradition
The Order of the Silver Rose is rooted in Irish Druidic religious tradition — a polytheistic, nature-based spiritual path that honours the gods and goddesses of Ireland, the spirits of the land, and the sacred rhythms of the turning year.
We celebrate the great Celtic festivals — Imbolc in the breath of early spring, Bealtaine at the flowering of summer, Lughnasadh at the first harvest, and Samhain when the veil grows thin. We mark the solstices and equinoxes. We gather at sacred times to perform ceremony, offer devotion, and strengthen the bonds between this world and the world of spirit.
Our patron deities include the bright Brigid — goddess of poetry, smithcraft, and healing — whose sacred flame we tend with honour. We walk beneath the gaze of many gods, giving reverence where it is due, and seeking the wisdom that has always lived in the old ways of Ireland.
The Sacred Year
🌱 Imbolc — 1 February
The festival of Brigid, of the first stirring of spring. A time for poetry, for dedication, for the rekindling of sacred fire.
🔥 Bealtaine — 1 May
The great festival of fire and fertility. The land awakens fully; the world bursts with creative power. A time of joy and celebration.
🌾 Lughnasadh — 1 August
The harvest festival of the god Lugh. A time for skill, for competition, for gratitude and the fruits of our labour.
🍂 Samhain — 31 October
When the veil between worlds is thinnest. We honour our beloved dead, seek wisdom from the ancestors, and prepare for the dark half of the year.
